Paul McGunnigle Awarded USGBC-LA’s Heart of the Chapter

01/14/2021

The Los Angeles Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC-LA) recently hosted their annual Green Gala to present the 10th Annual Sustainable Innovation Awards and recognize community leaders committed to building sustainable environments. Attendees included an online guest list of local government and industry professionals, including architects, general contractors, construction managers, real estate developers, LEED professionals, and other sustainability supporters. This year, USGBC-LA wanted to recognize the leaders spearheading the sustainability movement and instilling humanity into the built environment.

We are pleased to recognize HBC’s CEO, Paul McGunnigle, as being one of these celebrated leaders. He was awarded a 2020 Heart of the Chapter at USGBC-LA’s Green Gala event. This award recognizes “member-volunteers who have gone above and beyond in representing their community for many years and leaving a sustainable legacy.”1

Mr. McGunnigle was one of the earliest advocates for sustainability within the industry, and he served on the Board of Directors for the U.S. Green Building Council-Los Angeles (USGBC-LA) up until 2020. Within this capacity, he participated in several industry events promoting sustainability, including the Collective Impact Series2 and Emerging Professional events. Internally within HBC, he promotes continuing education and LEED accreditation for employees. As a result of Paul’s efforts, HBC is an official Green Business in the City of Los Angeles. Additionally, HBC has completed 38 LEED-certified projects and has become one of the leaders of sustainable building.

HBC heartily congratulates Paul McGunnigle on such a well-deserved achievement. Following in his legacy, HBC will continue to advocate for sustainability and green building initiatives while working closely with USGBC-LA and other organizations to promote clean construction within our community.
