Unfortunately, the construction industry has historically been the biggest culprit of energy depletion and CO2 emissions, to the tune of globally accounting for about 36% and 39%, respectively.1 These numbers may be disheartening, but global dialogue has increased awareness and industry leaders have responded with action. By implementing green building policies, sharing data-driven information, and promoting environmentally-sustainable practices, we can all do our part to be conscious, responsible contributors within the construction industry. Heart of the City 5K to Raise Funds for CHMC’s New Building

There is hardly a better way to spend a beautiful Los Angeles morning than among a sea of runners and walkers with one common goal – to help provide a local, non-profit healthcare facility with the resources needed to continue serving the greater community. This was exactly the motive behind California Hospital Medical Center (CHMC)’s Heart of the City 5K, which was held on Saturday, March 30. All proceeds from the event went to expanding their services into a new, four-story building that includes a full-service trauma center and a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Howard Building Corporation is proud to have been a course sponsor with two competing Corporate Cup Teams and several individuals who walked the course in support.
