HBC's client, LA Prep, provides Los Angeles artisanal food producers space to create and manufacture their specialty food items at a level that would be otherwise unattainable. Featured in a recent LA Times article, this unique facility offers 54 individual kitchens carved out of a re-purposed warehouse in Lincoln Heights.
The design and construction of this project required an intensive amount of plumbing, electrical and climate control upgrades to create a "plug and play" environment for the diverse requirements of specialized equipment used for manufacturing specialty food products. Floors, walls and sinks are designed and built to meet strict health codes, and freezers, coolers, prep and wash rooms allow for a smooth flow of production throughout the facility. Centralized storage allows for economies in delivery and supply lines.
Expected to officially open this month, LA Prep is already leased to 50% capacity and expects to reach full capacity quickly.
