HBC worked with designers at Gensler to reposition Kilroy Realty's Sunset Media Center property located prominently on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. This complex renovation included the entire first and second floor public areas and lobbies in the 22-story high rise building, as well as valet parking areas, the garage and complete site upgrades. The entire ground floor was demolished and redesigned by cutting out the existing 2nd floor concrete deck and providing structural upgrades to create a two story open atrium. As an even larger challenge, all of this work was completed without disruption to the various ground floor tenants including restaurants, coffee shops, banks and retail tenants, as well as all of the corporate tenants that make up the remaining floors of the building.
A defining feature of the design includes the extensive installation of artwork by California native artist, David Flores. His work can be viewed throughout various locations in California and abroad. Check out the video to watch his installation of the pieces featured at Sunset Media Center.
