Project Description

Howard Building Corporation began work on the client's corporate headquarters in 2014 and continues to provide construction services for the quickly growing company.  In partnership with Bestor Architecture, HBC constructed the original 50,000 square foot adaptive reuse project in Culver City, California.  Three buildings were interconnected to accommodate the company's research, design and development teams.  Since that time, HBC has completed more than 110,000 square feet of space on the expanding campus.

With a youthful, creative staff, the design of the space provides a working environment that fosters the company's adaptive and technologically advanced culture.  Rich in amenities and non-traditional, collaborative spaces, the design pushes the “creative space” paradigm.  Not only does it include a café, gym, locker rooms, four barista stations, outdoor lounges and multiple social hubs, there is also a mixing studio and a cutting edge acoustical testing lab that supports the engineering of products.

Finishes include large areas of rich blue and red painted walls, graphic wall coverings, metal and wood wall panels, and wood and concrete flooring.  Custom designed built-in furniture and millwork create many of the collaborative meeting spaces, and unique, sculptural light fixtures punctuate both intimate meeting rooms and expansive atriums.  Four separate interconnecting stairways link the first and second floors.  Frameless doors disappear into the walls, and windows seem to be portals between spaces held within large-scale, geometric frames.  The vibrant and edgy headquarters reflect a company setting the bar for the future.
