Project Description

Thomson Reuters is a multinational media and information firm that operates in more than 100 countries and has more than 60,000 employees around the world. The Los Angeles office is one of three California locations and is situated on an entire floor of the U.S. Bank Tower building in Downtown. Howard Building Corporation worked with designers at Perkins+Will to complete the project on an aggressive twelve week construction schedule.

The entry rotunda features pristine white floors and hard lid ceiling with light coves and soffits and a floating wood veneer feature that contains flush mounted flat screen monitors. Reception lies at the end of a glowing white corridor. Conference rooms in the space are equipped with global teleconferencing capabilities to connect with offices worldwide, and large scale graphics on glass partitions at the conference rooms reinforce the brand. The entire office space is built on a raised flooring system to manage the workstation and IT cabling. A production studio allowing for video capabilities is also constructed on a 4” raised floor plenum that houses electrical components. Another studio allows for live broadcasting capabilities. The project required after-hours HVAC and back-up emergency power to ensure no disruptions in the company's service capabilities.
