Project Description
Based in Northridge, California, Pharmavite produces SOYJOY snack bars and Nature Made dietary supplements, the top selling brand of supplements in the United States. When the company decided to renovate their 28,000 square foot headquarters, they engaged architects at HOK and Howard Building Corporation to execute the renovation. Occupying space on three floors, the company required no disruption in work flow, which resulted in three phases and complex scheduling for the construction of the project.
The resulting space features a new reception and showroom area with a circular design for the wood veneer reception desk and the glass floor-to-ceiling showroom walls. Architectural hard lid soffits define the spaces, and stone flooring follows the same outline below. A spherical pendant light fixture creates a focal point at the center of the reception space and frames the company's name displayed on the wall behind the reception desk. Recessed lighting creates a pattern in the ceiling above and downlights illuminate the back wall. The showroom features the company's products in custom designed millwork display cases, and informational videos play on continuous loop on the flat screen monitor installed in the space.
Down the hall from the reception area, a large scale graphic version of the company's logo is applied in film across two glass doors to announce entry into a public space. This graphic motif appears at numerous entries throughout the office, including at the extensive training rooms and the large lunch room. Because Pharmavite is deeply committed to educating its employees, the training rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art audio visual and teleconferencing equipment, similar to that installed in conference rooms throughout the office, and a foldable partition allows the rooms to be divided for multiple classes occurring at the same time.
