Project Description

Houzz is a collaborative online platform for home owners and residential design professionals to share images and resources for home design projects. The company has grown substantially since its inception, now with 20 million subscribers worldwide. The Houzz team took into account further growth when they moved into a space in Irvine that would allow future expansion. The initial build-out encompassed 25,000 square feet with potential adjacent space available for growth. Teams at Gensler and Howard Building Corporation helped make the transition of the burgeoning company seamless.

A completely open floor plan with exposed deck above, vibrant pops of green at the pristine white workstations throughout the space, and substantial designer pendant light fixtures above open communal areas defines the Houzz space. A special acoustic treatment on the deck above allows for sound privacy in the open space, and moderately low workstation panel heights allow for clear lines of sight throughout. A custom designed furniture feature that spells “Houzz” in 10 foot letters across the length of a wall creates, not just a whimsical seating area, but a constant reminder of the company's quickly growing brand.
