Project Description

Gibson Dunn, a global law firm with 1100 attorneys and 18 offices worldwide, resides on four floors of the premier 3161 Michelson building in Orange County. Howard Building Corporation has had a relationship with the firm for more than a decade and has teamed with architects at Gensler for the vast majority of the projects that have arisen with Gibson Dunn in that time. As a long-standing client, the respect and trust that has been established between the firms goes beyond just the projects and exists between the teams –the people- who have worked together all these years.

In their premier space in the Michelson building, stone flooring surrounds an inlaid carpet seating area in the lobby. A wood panel, two story wall across the lobby echoes the wood of the reception desk and backs the curved staircase that rises up through the lobby atrium to the second floor. A clean ceiling of large format acoustic tiles houses recessed light fixtures above while recessed lines of light run from the first floor to the second floor as vertical design features visually connecting the two floors of the atrium space.

Private perimeter offices and built-in workstations are finished in the same wood veneer used in the reception area. Large scale acoustic tiles provide a clean ceiling plane while hard lid soffits provide architectural ceiling features throughout the space. A conference center utilizes state-of-the-art audio visual equipment and teleconferencing equipment.
