Project Description

When Corporate Business Interiors (CBI) decided to move and expand their Allsteel and DIRTT showrooms and offices, HBC joined with these long-time industry partners and H. Hendy Architects to construct their new space. The 12,000 square foot location provides 4,000 square feet of open office space that compliments another 8,000 square feet of product showroom. Design features throughout highlight a range of functionality and aesthetics that reflect the furniture lines that CBI represents.

Wood paneling and stone tile flooring punctuate high profile areas throughout the space, and hard lid ceilings with cove features and recessed linear lights accent the large reception and greeting area, main conference room, and a full size kitchen and bar. Exposed ceilings provide a contrast to the clean lines of the hard lid ceiling and allow more volume in areas such as the open office area and showroom, as well as over the main conference room table. Custom designed, pivoting glass doors at the main conference room accentuate the clean detailing and clear lines of visibility throughout the space.

Extensive audio/visual capabilities are included in the CBI space. One of the most impressive is the large, multi-monitor installation greeting visitors at the entry, which displays custom programmed, branded videos and graphics. A circular seating area adjacent to the entry is one of the few millwork installations in the space, and there are no built walls. Utilizing the DIRTT system, all walls are pre-manufactured DIRTT components, which required Howard Building Corporation to work closely with DIRTT to coordinate installation of the walls within the construction scope of the project. Despite extensive coordination and communication, the projet was completed within the twelve week schedule.
