Howard Building Corporation and Ware Malcomb completed an extremely fast-tracked project for the advanced ceramics division of the company.The 50,000 square foot improvement consists of 8,000 square feet of office space for administrative and engineering personnel and 42,000 square feet for manufacturing, quality control, and process labs with ISO 7 and ISO 8 clean rooms. A Cerafiber rated exhaust system was installed to serve the thermal oxidizer emissions system, which eliminates silica nitrite and aluminum nitrite particulates from atmospheric discharge. Gas service was upgraded, and power was upgraded to two 4,000 amp main units (480 3p). Three 600A 3ph overhead buss ducts provided power distribution to the manufacturing area, which was also served by D.I. water, overhead waste, nitrogen, compressed air and vacuums using a shared overhead support system from a reinforced open web truss system. The facility was ready to begin receiving manufacturing and process equipment within 16 weeks of project start and was back in full operation within in four weeks of the start of re-location activities.
